I have been a wedding photographer in the Washington DC, Maryland and virginia areas for over 20 years and I absolutely love what I do. I have seen some things make your pictures really pop and bring out true emotion on your wedding day. And here they are!
1. Look at eachother coming back down the aisle! It’s hard to remember with all the craziness of your ceremony. When you engage with each other coming back down the aisle it makes for great images! And it’s really cute!
2. Try not to freeze unless I ask you to in portraits. Have fun with eachother and be goofy! I love it when you interact with eachother instead of looking at me. I am going for journalistic style fun shots so ham it up! I know it’s hard for some – that’s why I try to be as goofy as possible and make you laugh. Just relax and try to over interact with eachother! It works I’m telling ya!
3. Do an engagement session if you can – it really helps you be more relaxed and know what to expect! Most couples have never had professional shots done before so it’s a chance to practice. You also get comfortable with prompts and poses that you like.
4. Take advantage of golden hour light for your wedding pics. This light is sometimes the best light of the day – I try to use this time for shots of just the two of you. So take a quick break from your reception, and enjoy eachother for some photography magic!
